Safety first!
Safety is a top priority at Exertis Amacom
At Exertis Amacom, safety is central to our daily operations. As an organization, we do everything in our power to create and maintain a safe workplace for our employees, visitors, and other stakeholders. This is not only an obligation but a culture that we continuously promote, embrace, and strengthen. We constantly invest in safety by appointing first aiders (BHV’ers) and conducting Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E). But of course, we do much more! We are happy to share some of the measures we take (and have taken) to ensure safety, as well as the steps we continue to take to maintain a safe working environment.
First Aid - Company Emergency Response
At Exertis Amacom, several first aiders (BHV’ers) have been appointed. These employees are specifically trained to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. They play a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment and are trained in evacuation procedures, alerting emergency services, and providing first aid. These first aiders not only contribute to physical safety in the workplace but also play an important role in creating a sense of security for everyone in the building.
Warehouses - Safety in the Workplace
At Exertis Amacom, a Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E) report is also prepared, which maps out the potential risks that may be present in the workplace. This report is an important tool for identifying potential hazards in a timely manner and implementing preventive measures. The RI&E report serves as the foundation for an action plan, and the identified action points are followed up by our employees.
Additionally, it's not just about documenting risks; continuous improvement of our working conditions is key. We periodically assess whether there are opportunities for optimization, such as adjusting the stacking height of pallets, improving walkways in the warehouses, and installing clear signage and wayfinding. Our warehouses are equipped with safe walkways and clear markings, allowing employees to move through the warehouse in a safe and organized manner.
Various Roles
Within our organization, several employees are actively involved in safety efforts. They play a key role in constantly seeking ways to improve safety. These employees regularly collaborate with different departments to identify risks and take appropriate measures. In addition, there is a broader focus on health, safety, and environmental aspects within the organization.
Documentation
An important part of our safety strategy is the documentation of incidents, both large and small. By accurately recording near misses (close calls), we can identify risks early, take action, and strive to prevent incidents in the future. Employees are actively encouraged to report near misses and other safety-related observations. This data helps us conduct deeper analyses and implement appropriate preventive measures.
Toolbox Meetings and Safety Task Force
Periodically, our warehouse team organizes toolbox meetings, where safety and areas for improvement are the focus. We also have a Safety Task Force made up of employees from different departments, creating broad support across the organization. The Safety Task Force plays a key role in promoting workplace safety. This team collaborates to identify potential hazards, develop safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and provide training for employees when necessary. In this way, we ensure that safety remains a shared responsibility.
Continuous Development
At Exertis Amacom, we are always looking for ways to make our organization even safer. We actively seek advice from external experts and listen carefully to the recommendations of our colleagues. We encourage them to share their ideas and suggestions on how we can further optimize our workplace. We have even implemented a reward system, where employees who make exceptional contributions to Health & Safety are recognized and rewarded monthly. This not only promotes safety but also fosters a culture of proactive action.
Safety First Policy
We remain fully committed to ensuring a safe workplace for everyone involved with Exertis Amacom. We continue to invest in improvements, training, and raising awareness. We want every employee to feel safe and be able to contribute to an environment where safety, health, and well-being are always a top priority!
In Memoriam
While we continuously strive to improve our safety measures, a tragic and fatal workplace accident occurred on May 1, 2023, at one of our warehouses. This loss has left a deep impact on the organization and has provided an additional drive to ensure that safety remains our highest priority in the future. The affected employee and their family remain in our thoughts.
